At first, I thought the headline was from The Onion.
Your Costco Membership Card? No, It Is Not a Replacement for Real ID.
But this wasn’t snarky humor from a satirical website, this was an actual headline from The New York Times. Which, no matter which way your personal political fan blows, has a certain reputation for quality reporting.
Could this possibly be a story? I thought. Do people really think they can show a Costco card as a form of ID? Are Americans really that stupid?
It turns out…a). yes. And b). apparently, some do. And c). well…you be the judge.
Earlier this month, the TSA posted the following blurb on their social media stating that no, you can’t use your Costco card as a substitute for a Real ID.
